Primates' Communiqué - February 2005

A response from Reform Ireland

Reform Ireland cautiously welcomes the communiqué issued by the Primates' Meeting of 21st - 25th February 2005, especially its reassertion (par 6) of "the standard of Christian teaching on matters of human sexuality expressed in the 1998 Lambeth Resolution 1.10, which should command respect as the position overwhelmingly adopted by the bishops of the Anglican Communion.". This is also, and more importantly, the position of the holy scriptures. (Rom.1:26-7).

Reform Ireland also commends the Primates for their request (par 14) to ECUSA and the Anglican Church of Canada to "voluntarily withdraw their members from the Anglican Consultative Council for the period leading up to the next Lambeth Conference." Where there is false teaching and unbiblical morality there has to be separation (2 Cor 6.17).

We praise God for the stand for orthodoxy taken by so many primates and we pray even at this stage for repentance and amendment of life in the American and Canadian churches.
