A Day of Shame

Sunday 2nd November was a day of shame for the Anglican Communion, and ECUSA in particular when Gene Robinson was allegedly 'consecrated' as Bishop of New Hampshire. Reform Ireland deplores this divisive and unbiblical action, and cannot recognise Mr. Robinson as a bishop in the Church of God. By this action the Diocese of New Hampshire has excommunicated itself from the Anglican Communion and we no longer recognise it as Anglican, nor are we in fellowship with it.

Furthermore Sunday 2nd November was a day of shame for the Church of Ireland, and the Diocese of Limerick in particular, since Bishop Michael Mayes was present at this 'consecration' service. He did so because his diocese is in a companion relationship with New Hampshire. We call upon Limerick to cease this relationship, in view of the heretical stance taken by New Hampshire. We fear that should the Limerick-New Hampshire link be continued, it would lead to greater division, not just in the Anglican Communion, but within the Church of Ireland itself.
